Dioons

Dioon edule, commonly known as the Mexican Blue Palm or Chestnut Dioon, is a slow-growing, long-lived cycad native to the rocky slopes of Eastern Mexico. It features a robust, woody trunk topped with a symmetrical crown of stiff, pinnate fronds that are typically a striking bluish-green to silvery hue. While it resembles a palm or fern, it is actually a gymnosperm more closely related to conifers, producing large, fuzzy seed cones rather than flowers. This resilient plant is highly valued in landscaping for its drought tolerance, architectural form, and ability to survive for hundreds of years.
