Dioon edule, commonly known as the Mexican Blue Palm or Chestnut Dioon, is a slow-growing, long-lived cycad native to the rocky slopes of Eastern Mexico. It features a robust, woody trunk topped with a symmetrical crown of stiff, pinnate fronds that are typically a striking bluish-green to silvery hue. While it resembles a palm or fern, it is actually a gymnosperm more closely related to conifers, producing large, fuzzy seed cones rather than flowers.
